These e-portfolios also need to be shareable with external stakeholders and available for reporting and auditing purposes. At present locally procured ad hoc solutions are employed by a number of Schools. These systems are not integrated into core University of Leeds systems.
2.All taught students have access to an internally developed programme; Leeds for Life. Designed in 2007, Leeds for Life was designed to support students in their personal and academic development through a number of functions accessed via a web page. Leeds for Life as a brand and concept is high profile and strategically important. Of the current eight functions provided by the Leeds for Life system two are clearly aligned to the operability of an e-portfolio: Personal Tutoring and the Personal Development Timeline. The University of Leeds wishes to explore how other functions can be delivered by e-portfolio solutions.
Vision Statement: Implementation of an institution wide e-portfolio tool (provisionally for launch ahead of the start of term in September 2020) will: •Remove the current utilisation of local supply arrangements •Provide a high-quality user experience, offering students and staff a centrally supported tool with training and ongoing user support •Enable integration into core University systems •Facilitate the assessment of student assignments •Support the delivery of mandatory funding and reporting requirements. •Provide a robust, resilient, cloud-hosted, secure, accessible, compliant system.
Outcomes: An institutional e-portfolio tool must: •Provide functionality to meet the mandatory requirements of degree apprenticeship partners and funding bodies, including recording of hours, reporting, validation of skills and assessments. •Be accessible by University of Leeds students and staff plus external delivery partners. •Integrate with current and future University of Leeds systems (Banner, Blackboard, Module Catalogue, MS Office 365) •Enable students to share and manage their content. •Incorporate the management, delivery and reporting of Personal Tutoring underwritten by the University of Leeds Personal Tutoring Policy. •Ensure students can record their academic and personal development skills and achievements •Provide management information on usage and outputs •Be secure, resilient, managed, accessible and user-friendly.
