3. Explanation
It is strategically critical that the FAAM Research Aircraft is based out of Cranfield Airport, as our Prime contractor (BAE) has staff based at the Cranfield office building alongside the sub-contractors who maintain and fly the aircraft, our researchers & technicians work out of the office building on site, as well as the lab space which is in the hangar itself, readily available access to the aircraft is vital for the delivery of our science campaigns and the ongoing Mid-life upgrade £49m capital infrastructure investment. For these reasons, the only viable option to ensure continuity of operations and our contractual obligations is for the aircraft to remain hangared at Cranfield Airport.
